Karen Sze is a multifaceted spiritual human being. Traveler and explorer by choice. Structural engineer by trade. Floral designer at times. Plant lover by birth. Yogi by choice. Reiki practitioner to our four-legged friends and bipeds. BodyTalk Access Technician by choice. Daughter. Sister. Aunt. 40 year young Woman.

Spiritually, she is a Maverick. No dogma. No labels.

On nights of the new moon or full moon, you can find her with her sacred tobacco and crystals; setting new intentions and letting go of things that no longer serve her. Often you will find her wearing her Buddha beads which she found in a sacred Buddhist temple in Malaysia. When Karen steps into a church, she will touch the holy water, make the sign of the cross, and light a candle – as she was taught from her days in an all girls Catholic school in Hong Kong. Inside a Muslim mosque, she will cover her hair with a headscarf and meditate in the women’s section.

Her mantra is Om Mani Padme Hum.

Karen became a solo, independent world traveller as a teenager while growing up in Winnipeg, Canada. Her first solo journey was to Tokyo, Japan. She has now visited all seven continents, and 50+ countries.

She enjoys immersing herself in different cultures, tasting local cuisine (though she prefers to bypass the deep fried insects) and experiencing all activities that life has to offer.

Getting lost and getting found; literally and philosophically – add Levels of Fun, Adventure and Wisdom.

Karen started her inward and outward spiritual journey after the occurrence of the tri-factor in 2004; a new job, a new home and the end of a 5-year relationship – all this subsequent to the death of her father and bouts of depression. Instead of holding onto security, comfort, fear of uncertainty and living in contraction, she opted for Growth, Betterment, Opportunity and Living Life in Expansion.

Do NOT wait; the time will never be just right. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

~ Napoleon Hill

She seeked out alternative medicine; Cranial-Sacral therapy, BrainGym, Homeopathy, BodyTalk, Naturopathic medicine, Usui Reiki, Shamballa Reiki, osteopathy and acupuncture. Concurrently, she opened her mind and heart to spirituality. She learned about Tibetan Buddhism, yoga, meditation, shamanic journeying, and Indigenous teachings. She enjoys thought provoking quotes, books by Paulo Coelho, adrenaline filled movies and sarcasm.

During her full-time corporate tenure, she joined several organized tours to South America, Central Europe, Asia and Antarctica; to gain a different perspective. After she left engineering, she travelled to 15+ countries on her own – with no advance itinerary or bookings. What she discovered is this:

Travel + Spirituality = Alchemy of Self

upward spiral expansion

Within her on-going journey, she has rebuilt her belief systems, and shifted from being a right-brained, logical engineer to a more intuitive, Universe-trusting traveller. Now she is seeking to be neither a right-brained or left-brained person – she is learning to be a balanced being on multi-levels.

Karen sees life as a journey. As she evolves and travels up the expanding spiral, she hopes to help others along the way.

We are all on a journey. We only differ in our purpose and our approach.
